MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Tanata Productions is to translate the core of an exhibition into a traveling package that will discover new venues and engage limitless audiences across the planet. It begins with listening and ends with the knowledge that our clients will be fully supported to share their stories.
WHAT DOES TANATA MEAN?
At a very young age I was fascinated with the way things worked, or more importantly how they did not work. Taking apart broken electronics and peeking behind the curtain quickly led to trying to fix things and figuring out ways to improve how something was designed or built.
At the age of eight, I wrote down an acronym for how the world looked to me back then, “Things Are Not As They Appear”…TANATA. Not long after I added a “Productions” to the end of the name, (because everything back then had a ‘Productions” at the end of it), and decided that this would be my company if ever I found myself in need of one.
Fast forward twenty years and Tanata Productions was creating plays, films and a myriad of other creative projects. In 2005, Tara and I formally registered the company with the State of New York, and we have been morphing into different businesses ever since, solving problems, simplifying workflows and figuring out how to improve the way things run. The Museum world has given us the opportunity to work with wonderful people and help put together the puzzle pieces that go into a successful exhibition.
The one mystery we have not been able to solve is why, even though we wouldn’t meet for another twenty years, we are wearing identical red sweaters and 1970s patterned pants. Happily Tara still loves baby animals, and I have since learned how to hold a camera.
